Knowledge discovery is a concept of the field of computer science that describes the process of automatically searching large volumes of data for patterns that can be considered knowledge about the data. It is often described as deriving knowledge from the input data. This complex topic can be categorized according to 1) what kind of data is searched; and 2) in what form is the result of the search represented. The most well-known branch of data mining is knowledge discovery, also known as Knowledge Discovery in Databases (KDD). Just as many other forms of knowledge discovery it creates abstractions of the input data. The knowledge obtained through the process may become additional data that can be used for further usage and discovery. Another promising application of knowledge discovery is in the area of software modernization which involves understanding existing software artifacts. This process is related to a concept of reverse engineering. Usually the knowledge obtained from existing software is presented in the form of models to which specific queries can be made when necessary. An entity relationship is a frequent format of representing knowledge obtained from existing software. Object Management Group (OMG) developed specification Knowledge Discovery Metamodel (KDM) which defines an ontology for the software assets and their relationships for the purpose of performing knowledge discovery of existing code. Knowledge discovery from existing software systems, also known as software mining is closely related to data mining, since existing software artifacts contain enormous business value, key for the evolution of software systems. Instead of mining individual data sets, software mining focuses on metadata, such as database schemas. From Wikipedia under the

Answered by Flat Broke - Sun Dec 24 10:40:33 2006 The present steals knowledge from the past in order to improve its future, do you agree? Q. Things in life evolve. However, when we think of things and how to make them better, people tend to experiment off previous discoveries and inventions of technology. Same reason athletes of today are bigger and stronger, and sometimes faster than athletes of the pre-modern era. Denying credibility of old school athletes, inventions, and other discoveries as well. To really get ahead and improve yourself, inventions, discoveries, relationships, etc. anything within the existence of time. You have to go back. Improve your relationship with God, family, yourself. Everyone has a history and it explains why we do things subconsciously. It might be a small thing or a big thing, some small things as far as 30 years back, but it DOES affect what… [cont.] Asked by God'sStrength - Sat Mar 22 14:39:03 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. Your past memories will always make you unhappy. If it was a happy memory you will soon long for that again and therefore bring you down. And if it was a bad memory then it will also bring you down. Stay with the present moment and accept what is rather than trying to change what is into something that is not. Deal with your past memories and jump forward in to the present without baggage so that you are light enough to walk on water. The past is dead, the future is imaginary happiness can only be in the eternal NOW moment. Why destroy your present happiness by a distant thought of misery, which may never come at all. Q. "While the doctor s greedy hunger for knowledge and discovery not only ended his own life, but others as well." Asked by Tami - Sun Sep 14 23:52:46 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. In the phrase "not only his own life, but others as well" the "others" refers to lives. That's acceptable. There's no need for the possessive case. In the phrase "not only his own life, but others' lives as well" the "others" refers to people. That's acceptable. The need for the possessive case here should be obvious. I don't recommend adding an apostrophe to "others" unless you include "lives". It might not be technically incorrect, but it would be awkward and confusing. What you have, however, is not a sentence. The "while" at the start of this fragment indicates that this is a subordinate clause. I don't see the independent clause that would make this a complete sentence. Either remove the "while", or tell us what other thing… [cont.] Answered by Gary B - Mon Sep 15 00:23:12 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "knowledge discovery" Refining knowledge : Museum depicts area's oil industry history
