In Excel How do I cross reference 2 columns and some?
Q. I have two Excel documents both with multiple rows and columns. One of the columns in both the documents contains the same type of information. I would like excel to cross reference these columns. If it the finds any exact matches I would like it to the place the data from two other columns into the destination sheet, but this information would have to correspond to the correct row where it found the match. If anyone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated even if its just a pointer in the right direction. Thanks.

A. I agree, the vba answer is way too complex... vlookup is the way to go. Here's how: EDIT: Sorry about the spacing, I can't get yahoo to format this correctly, but each letter should be a seperate column. First (target) sheet Column A Column B Column C 1 One w p 2 Two x q 3 Three y r 4 Four z s Second (destination) sheet (after entering Vlookup formula) Column A Column B Column C 1 One w p 2 Three x q 3 Five #N/A #N/A 4 Seven #N/A #N/A Your formula in column B of your target sheet is =VLOOKUP(A1,target!A:B,2, FALSE) Your formula in column C is =VLOOKUP(A1,target!A:C,3, FALSE) Now just replace the #N/A's or delete them. Where can I find a parts cross reference for an 86 Honda?
Q. I have an 86 Honda Nighthawk 450 and need some parts. I can find parts on eBay and such but they're usually for earlier years. Where can I find a parts cross reference list (preferrably online) so I can see if a sidecover from an 82 will fit my 86, and things like that.
Asked by Jim C - Wed Aug 20 08:10:42 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You could try the Power Sports Pro website. They seem to have parts for almost everything, even older model bikes. As with any motorcycle part, don't expect it to be cheap.

Explain what is Cross reference list in software documentation?
Q. I have a problem in the theory part of software engineering. I need to know what is 'Cross reference list' Anyone who knows tell me the answer. Thank you,
Asked by Kokila S - Wed Jan 21 02:04:43 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. It probably refers to documenting software by cross referencing functions to their particular documentation. For example in UNIX, you can cross reference a C program by cross referencing functions like strcpy, perror, printf, etc. to their corresponding manpages. This could also refer to referring to documentation from another document outside of the scope. It really depends on the context and the documentation you're trying to write.

How can I cross reference a checkbox in MS word?
Q. I want to click on one check box and have it populate multiple checkboxes throughout a form. Does anyone know the macro code per the recommendation below? Step by step instructions would be great.
Asked by JMaster1 - Thu Jul 26 12:57:42 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I think you can cross-populate fields with on-exit Visual Basic code from each other. If you're not familiar with such macro code, here's a way to get started: 1. Right-click on a form field and select Properties. 2. You'll have to learn how to write simple macro code in Visual Basic. 3. Each form field will probably have a name (I think it's the Bookmark Name) by which it can be referenced from other fields. You'll probably have to create an Exit macro for certain fields that will copy the field's contents to its sister fields. Good luck.

A. The best way is to change how you input your data. I would say use a master customers table. It can be nice looking and sorted so you could find accounts or add new ones. Then when on a different sheet use a vlookup to see if customer is in list or copy info. So create a master customer table, reference the table with a vlookup like this =VLOOKUP($A$1,Table1, 2, FALSE) this will search my table1 and if the first field of my table1 is a name that matches the name I input in a1 it will see if it exists and display the 2nd field in that names row Copy to next cell but change 2 to a 3 and you get the 3rd field continue and you can pull a full customer info inquiry row on a different sheet. you can then use a paste macro to put it on an… [cont.]

A. What you want is actually very simple and could be coded up in almost any language in a few minutes,You could even use word or excel although Access or another database would be more suitiable. For small amounts of data, a few hundred items or so, it could even be done using a single text file to hold the "database" something like this My real cool item (MyPartnumber) OtherPartnumber AnotherPartnumber YetAnotherPartnumber Searching would be a case of using the the editors inbuilt search facility, you type in the required part number or description and it would then show the correct line.

Asked by Tom H - Thu Nov 22 10:25:58 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Depending on what part you are looking for, yes there is generally an interchange for them. Those interchanges are usually found in the back of what ever book you are looking at, (ie Starters, Lighting, etc). Each company puts their numbers and applications in the front of the book, then if you have the part number of what you have originally they will have a O.E. Interchange to that particular company. My wife is a manager at an O'Reilly Auto Parts. She keep the old books for people just like you who like to look up their own part numbers and etc. This time of year is perfect for what you are wanting, go to or call a local auto/ATV parts store or even a ATV dealer/repair place and see if they have any of their 2006-2007 books… [cont.]
