In Excel How do I cross reference 2 columns and some?
Q. I have two Excel documents both with multiple rows and columns.One of the columns in both the documents contains the same type of information. I would like excel to cross reference these columns. If it the finds any exact matches I would like it to the place the data from two other columns into the destination sheet, but this information would have to correspond to the correct row where it found the match. If anyone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated even if its just a pointer in the right direction. Thanks.

A. I agree, the vba answer is way too complex... vlookup is the way to go. How can I cross reference ASTM standards for pipe fittings to valve specifications?
Q. example; I am asked for a Y Strainer Flanged ANSI 300 to be coupled to a Ball Valve which is rated 3000lb . Am I just stupid or is there somthing fundi=emental I'm missing here. There seems to be no way to cross reference the standards of the engineering world.ie ASME , BS , DIN , EN , SABS and ity goes on and on. Is there any one out there who has a handle on this nightmare of standards.

A. Normally you only see 2000, 3000 or 6000 # designations with smaller valves and fittings. Usually in the 2 inch or smaller range. It is possible that the ball valve is manufactured to the 3000 # standard will the strainer is manufactured to the 300 # rating. You should be able to find all of the various flange and fitting rating online if you look. Here is an example:

A. Here's a link to the part: You can use any other device with similar or better ratings for Drain-Source voltage, Power, Current, and switching frequency. Or, just get direct replacements and skip cross-referencing altogether. Incidentally, these kinds of devices will typically last for decades if used appropriately. So you may want to further investigate why they went bad in the first place (e.g. poor/no ground, inadequate heat dissipation, lightning strike on power lines, etc.).

That will work if it is an L3 switch. otherwise you will have to go to the router and look at the mac address table there to get the mac address, and then on the L2 switch you would need to look at the CAM table. Step 1 would get you IP --> MAC Step 2 would get you MAC --> port Solar winds makes a great network engineer's tool kit that has a very good switchport mapper.

How to cross reference large amount of pictures?
Q. Hey i got about 15.000 pictures, and know that many of them are duplicates, so I ran a duplicate checker and found out that about 12300 of them were duplicates. But then I had to manually delete all the duplicates. So does anybody know a program (Windows) that can find duplicates, but instead of showing the duplicates, it shows which of the pictures that not are the duplicates

A. It really depends what parts you are looking for. Montgomery Ward parts are almost impossible to find anymore. If you are looking for belts, you can usually take it to your local dealer and they can match up the correct size belts. For blades, many times you can find an after market company that manufacturers your blade for cheaper (ie: stens or silverstreak) as for parts for the body of the machine you wont be able to cross reference them.

Open the first spreadsheet, then copy and paste the second one on the first spreadsheet, after doing that, hide those columns that you don't need for cross reference and leave the columns you need for comparison but make sure that the format you used for the two spreadsheets are identical, so that every rows we're tallied to the first one.

G.M. rochester # is on the throttle side probbibly starting with 1708 its about a 7 or 8 numbers long Holley is stamped up next to the choke like R1634A, ford uses a tag under a bolt head on the top of the carb if it is still there. they use number and letters.

A. Ford introduced that body style started in 1980. Cosmetic changes were made to the nose in '87 & again in '92 & ran up to '96. New body style was introduced in '97. Many interior parts will interchange, such as doors, windows, & seats. The boxes will bolt on up to '96. The major difference is the flare over the rear wheel opening; body lines are the same. Suspension, driveline, & brake parts will all interchange. The F150 4X4 IFS front ends were used from '80 '96 Have fun. . .
